Performance Technologies Rolls Out Linux-based NexusWare 6.0

12/9/2003 - Performance Technologies (Nasdaq NM: PTIX), a leader in unified systems design for the communications, military and commercial markets, announced Version 6 of its popular Linux-based NexusWareTM software suite, an integral part of the company's IPnexusTM family of embedded packet products.

When used in conjunction with any of Performance Technologies’ award-winning IPnexus products, the NexusWare development environment serves as a set of value-added integration tools. With full technical support offered by Performance Technologies, NexusWare facilitates the development of system-level embedded applications, simplified integration and the realization of optimal levels of high availability and throughput for packet-based systems.

“NexusWare V6 is yet another example of Performance Technologies’ effort to allow developers to focus on applications rather than development tools,” said Steve Wigent, product manager for Performance Technologies. “Over the past three years, our customers have successfully launched numerous products using NexusWare, and we believe this latest version will further address their development needs.”

NexusWare V6, built on the 2.4.18 Linux kernel, is an enhanced distribution specifically tailored toward embedded applications. Features in NexusWare V6 include full TCP/IP development capabilities, SNMP support, a full set of development APIs, cross-compilers and debuggers, an optimized network layer, improved handling of nested interrupts, a single page caching layer and support for POSIX clock and timers.

In addition to taking advantage of the 2.4.18 kernel, Performance Technologies has added many loadable driver options to its base NexusWare V6 package. These carrier-grade drivers and APIs allow management of all of the onboard hardware resources available on the various IPnexus products, making each hardware subsystem a complete applications development platform. Optional, higher level communications software modules are also offered by Performance Technologies and include: HDLC, X.25, Frame Relay, radar and SS7.

NexusWare V6 is available immediately. Pricing starts at $500.
