12/5/2003 - John Chen, chairman, CEO and president of Sybase®, Inc. (NYSE: SY) will participate in a keynote panel presentation at the 12th Annual Asia Leadership Forum “Masters of Our Own Destiny Leadership in an Independent World” taking place December 4-5 in Shanghai. In his remarks during the session, titled “The Long Dry Spell: Managing the Contagion of War, SARS and a Crisis of Confidence,” Chen will address the economic effects on the Asian economy of the war on terror and SARS. Specifically, he will discuss the need for businesses to increase security and for creating infrastructure to protect assets. Despite the costly effects of terror and SARS, there are emerging Asian economies that have continued to grow and will continue have a great impact in the world economy.
At the Asia Leadership Forum, BusinessWeek is recognizing John Chen as one of Asia’s outstanding business leaders and will present him with a special gift and be the only person at the Forum presented with this honor by Royal Salute.
