Marimba Features Latest Server Management Solutions at Gartner Conference

12/5/2003 - Marimba, Inc. (Nasdaq: MRBA) announced that it will feature its latest Server Management offerings in exhibit booth "T" at Gartner's 22nd Annual Data Center conference on December 8-10, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Marimba's Server Management suite enables seamless automation across data centers and distributed enterprises. Marimba manages a number of critical functions such as inventory, provisioning, packaging, configuration, auditing, and repair. In addition, the Marimba® suite provides integration with third-party support systems within a data center to enable an automated ecosystem. Marimba's Server Management suite helps IT administrators to significantly reduce the cost and complexity of managing servers through a set of business solutions, including:

  • Security Patch and Virus Management - automates the identification and deployment of hotfixes, patches and anti-virus updates.
  • Software Usage - provides IT administrators with detailed graphical reports on the status of software being deployed and the licenses that are actually being used.
  • Asset and Inventory Management - automatically collects detailed software, hardware, and system information across heterogeneous platform environments.
  • Application Management - provides packaging and automated distribution, repair and uninstall capabilities of off-the-shelf and custom applications across data centers and distributed branch offices.
  • Content Distribution - allows enterprises to efficiently and reliably deliver large volumes of rapidly changing server content across distributed locations.
  • OS Management - provides the ability to rapidly provision and migrate operating systems.

"In recent months, we've added several new enhancements and expanded our multi-platform capabilities to our server management offerings," said Purnima Padmanabhan, director of product management for Marimba. "These enhancements will help companies introduce cheaper alternatives such as Linux into their data centers and enterprises, while still lowering the costs of managing servers and applications on Unix and Windows platforms. The Gartner Data Center conference provides an excellent venue to showcase these offerings, and we look forward to helping attendees identify ways to decrease the time, cost and effort required to manage server assets in their data centers and throughout their heterogeneous enterprises."

The Gartner Data Center conference is an event for IT executives, project leaders, storage planners and asset managers that are involved in developing, marketing, and maintaining products and services for IT operations centers.
