Mindspeed Ships Over 2.5 Million Crosspoint Switch Ports

12/3/2003 - Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. (AMEX: MND), a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for network infrastructure applications, announced that the company has shipped more than 2.5 million crosspoint switch ports since first entering the crosspoint switch market in 1999.

“This is a significant milestone for Mindspeed. Surpassing more than 2.5 million port shipments reaffirms our leading position in the crosspoint switch market,” said Babak Nabili, director of marketing for Mindspeed. “Our crosspoint switches offer capabilities extending beyond traditional networking applications, allowing Mindspeed to penetrate new segments such as our recently announced products for broadcast video applications.”

Mindspeed’s broad offering of crosspoint switches provide the central connection-routing technology for incoming and outgoing signals between hundreds of line cards in a typical high-speed system. Mindspeed was the first to integrate per-channel independent clock and data recovery devices (CDRs) along with adjustable input equalization and output pre-emphasis capabilities into a crosspoint switch, features that are used in the newest generation of smaller footprint, higher-capacity telecom, datacom and SAN systems.
