12/3/2003 - Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK), the world's leading manufacturer of oscilloscopes, announced the Standardization, Testing and Quality Certification Directorate (STQC), the leading government certification body in India, has chosen Tektronix' TDS3052B and TDS2024 oscilloscopes for use in its network of test & calibration labs across India.
Electronics and Information Technology (IT) is the fastest growing segment of Indian industry, both in terms of production and exports. Today, the Indian electronics industry is completely de-licensed with the exception of aerospace and defense electronics, and is attracting considerable interest not only as a vast market but also as potential production base by international companies. As a result, the Indian Government is promoting IT as one of the country's five top priorities, constituting a National Task Force on Information Technology and Software Development. The purchase of Tektronix oscilloscopes for the STQC's 22 laboratory sites around the country will help in providing services to industries in testing and calibration, product development assistance, system reliability prediction and assessment, education and on the job training in quality and reliability.
"Tektronix' TDS3052B and TDS2024 oscilloscopes provide the key factors -- flexibility, sample rate and overall product quality -- needed by our customers who are developing a variety of electronic designs," said Dr. S.L. Sarnot, Director General, STQC. "The addition of Tektronix oscilloscopes to our test & calibration labs will give engineers throughout the country access to reliable test equipment that can address their various testing challenges from time to time, while providing consistent, accurate results."
"As the leading government-supported certification organization, the STQC has the responsibility to provide its customers with the best possible instrumentation that meets a variety of test needs," said Colin Shepard, Vice President, Oscilloscope Products, Tektronix, Inc. "With Tektronix' oscilloscopes, the STQC can now enhance the testing standards in India's electronics industry and support the government's initiative to increase its global competence in this market sector."
