12/2/2003 - Dexterra, Inc., provider of high-value, low-risk field force automation applications and the Dexterra Mobility Platform(tm) built on the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework, announced that former Southwest Airlines CEO, Howard Putnam is joining Dexterra's Board of Advisors. With over 25 years of leadership in the commercial airline industry, Putnam brings his experience as a corporate chief to Dexterra where he will provide strategic counsel on 2004 growth and partnership strategies. Putnam joins Andy Mulholland, CTO of CGE&Y and Robert Gryphon, Chairman/CTO of Airframe Business Software, both current Board of Advisor members.
"Howard is a very well respected business visionary with a proven track record in leading successful companies," said Jim Patrick, Dexterra's Executive Vice President. "Howard's unique and well rounded perspective on fast changing business environments will provide Dexterra with insights and long-term strategic initiatives."
During Putnam's tenure as CEO of Southwest Airlines (1978-1981), the company built a world-class reputation for putting its employees' and customers' satisfaction first. Putnam was recruited to leave Southwest to become CEO of the financially troubled Braniff International, where he was the first CEO to successfully restructure a major airline into, through, and out of Chapter 11. Putnam started his career with United Airlines where he spent over 20 years handling numerous management responsibilities - his final position being Group VP Marketing. Now Putnam is a respected author, speaker and advisor on business issues. In his book, The Winds of Turbulence, published by HarperCollins, as well as in his highly-regarded speeches, Putnam draws upon his own extensive knowledge and experiences - discussing leadership, change, and the value of people and ethics.
"I truly look forward to being a part of Dexterra's success in the years to come," commented Putnam. "The company has the technical prowess, management philosophy and clarity of vision to become a dominant player in the field force automation space."
