Multi-Tech Improves Efficiency with Low-Cost External DID Fax Server

11/19/2003 - Multi-Tech Systems, Inc., a leading data communications and telecommunications company based in suburban Minneapolis, is now shipping a stand-alone DID fax server. Designed with two V.34 fax modems, one for incoming faxes via a DID trunk and one for outgoing/incoming faxes via a PSTN line, the FaxFinder sets a new price point for network faxing capabilities. The FaxFinder converts incoming faxes from a DID trunk to an email format and sends them via email to any network location based on pre-assigned DID numbers. When sending faxes, the bundled client software for Windows uses the second fax modem on a standard POTS line. These fax operations are handled by the industry’s most advanced modems which support DID and “Super G3” ITU V.34 standard fax communications. In addition, the unit also supports two dimensional compression, real time fax compression conversion, and ECM (Error Correction Mode). The FaxFinder model FF110 external desktop fax server is now shipping at an MSRP of US$999.

“Our new FaxFinder makes network faxing cost effective and efficient,” states Chip Harleman, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Multi-Tech-Tech Systems, Inc. “By combining all the hardware and software into one package, we are offering an easy way for even smaller companies to start enjoying the benefits of faxing from PCs on the network. With the hardware in one unit that is the size of an external modem, installing the FaxFinder is a matter of connecting two phone lines to the modem connectors, the network to the Ethernet port and running the browser-based software on a network connected PC for configuration and monitoring. Bundled client software is run on any network connected PC, which enables sending and receiving faxes directly from and to the PC. Compared to the task of installing a traditional PC-based fax server, the FaxFinder is both easier and less expensive. With the convenience and flexibility afforded by the unit’s DID capabilities, the FaxFinder will be a welcome addition to your company’s business regardless of its size and needs.”

The new FaxFinder model FF110 external desktop DID fax server converts incoming faxes on a DID trunk into emails and routes them to network users based on pre-assigned DID phone numbers. It includes two fax modems: one for incoming faxes via a DID trunk line and one for outgoing and incoming faxes via a PSTN phone line. The FaxFinder also includes an Ethernet port for connection to a compatible network. It sends faxes from any Windows network user using bundled client software. Its super G3 faxing and two-dimensional compression provide speed, and its DID routing capability provides efficient distribution. DID offers a high degree of security for both the sender and the recipient because the faxes are routed directly to the recipients email box as opposed to printing out on a fax machine. The fax modems used on the FaxFinder feature performance enhancing capabilities including V.34 fax communications plus MP and MMR compression support. (Note: Fax compression allows for the use and conversion of the commonly used MH - Modified Huffman, plus MR -Modified READ- and MMR -Modified-Modified READ- which are one dimensional, mixed one and two dimensional, and two dimensional compression, respectively.) Since most new fax machines support all of these compression techniques, the FaxFinder provides the best compatibility and performance regardless of the fax source.
