Brooktrout’s TruFax Network Fax Solution Helps Improve Communication

11/18/2003 - Brooktrout Technology, Inc., the worldwide market leader of intelligent fax boards, announced that its TruFax® series intelligent fax board was selected by systems integrator, Harrison Technology Consulting, as the heart of a network fax solution for Carolina’s Choice by Williams, Inc., a small, independent furniture company. As part of a new collaboration and communications effort working under Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003, Brooktrout’s TruFax series intelligent fax boards enabled Carolina’s Choice to set up a LAN-based fax server for rapid distribution of product information to dealers and sales representatives.

Prior to implementing a network fax solution, information distribution to Carolina’s Choice’s sales channel was slow and cumbersome and weeks could pass before new pricing information was communicated to the sales channel. Just sending out the information was time-consuming because the changes had to be communicated through a combination of email, faxes, phone calls and postal mail. Most of the communications required sending as many as 100 separate faxes by hand, effectively requiring an employee to “baby-sit” the fax machine. Now, with the Microsoft Shared Fax and Brooktrout TruFax series intelligent fax board combination, updated price and product list information is available to dealers and sales representatives almost instantly.

“Prior to implementing an intelligent fax solution, we used an external fax modem and were experiencing all kinds of compatibility issues, dropped connections and partial receives,” said Nan Williams, vice president of Carolina’s Choice by Williams, Inc. “Since installing Brooktrout’s TruFax series intelligent fax board, we have not had errors related to fax transmissions, which saves our employees time and aggravation, ultimately saving our company money.”

“As a technology consultant, I am very pleased with Brooktrout’s TruFax series intelligent fax board, and will recommend the product to my future clients who wish to have a fax server as a part of their system configuration,” said Jason Harrison, president of Harrison Technology Consulting. “The fax board was easy to install and Carolina’s Choice saw positive results immediately.”

Brooktrout’s TruFax Series intelligent fax boards offer small to medium-sized businesses and departmental workgroups dependable fax capabilities for a variety of computer based fax applications, such as network fax and fax broadcast, at an economical price point for low volume fax traffic. Unlike Class 1 and Class 2 fax modems, TruFax’s advanced fax algorithms, dedicated fax processing components, and a single-purpose design delivers the performance features that enterprise fax applications require.

Brooktrout has been leading the industry in fax technology for more than a decade and currently is the worldwide market leader. Brooktrout was the first company to introduce multi-channel fax boards, the first to combine fax and voice processing on a single board, and the first to provide fax application development tools under UNIX and Windows NT Server 4.0. Brooktrout holds U.S. patents on fax-on-demand document retrieval and the use of direct inward dialing (DID) telephone service with fax message systems, and in the last five years has received more than a dozen industry and technology awards for its intelligent fax products.
