FastRamp Upgrades Agilent 93000 with RF Measurement to Test RF SOCs

11/17/2003 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced that FastRamp Test Services, Inc., a subsidiary of ST Assembly Test Services Ltd. (STATS -- NNM: STTS and SGX: ST Assembly), has broadened the Agilent 93000 test capabilities in its San Diego facility to include the 93000 RF Measurement Suite. This addition allows FastRamp to test all wireless radio frequency (RF) SOCs, including cellular, WLAN, GPS, cordless, Bluetooth(tm), and other wireless applications.

"Reducing cost of test, while achieving the highest test quality, is a top priority for the price-sensitive consumer and enterprise electronics markets," said Mark Kelley, general manager of FastRamp. "Adding the Agilent 93000 with RF Measurement Suite to our San Diego production floor enables FastRamp to support all of our customers' RF SOC applications. Its high throughput, including quad-site test, and renowned accuracy allows us to meet the cost of test and quality demands of our customers."

The RF Measurement Suite deployed at FastRamp San Diego includes Agilent's new, low-cost analog IQ measurement option. Leveraging the existing wide-bandwidth RF receiver to minimize cost, the analog option delivers excellent relative phase and amplitude accuracy to meet the stringent IQ test needs of highly integrated RF SOCs. The Agilent solution for RF SOCs provides high quality measurement results while lowering cost of test.

"Our RF measurement capabilities deliver exceptional performance, including error vector magnitude measurements and up to 8 GHz measurement capability, in a cost-effective solution for a variety of wireless devices," said Tom Newsom, vice president and general manager of Agilent's SOC Test Business Unit. "The Agilent 93000 RF Measurement Suite leverages more than 65 years of Agilent's RF/microwave experience, in addition to time-proven hardware architecture and measurement algorithms, to create a test solution that integrates seamlessly into FastRamp's customers' product life cycle, thus helping them to lower the cost of test."
