11/13/2003 - Since June 2002, Fujitsu Siemens Computers has had great success supplying its Intel-based PRIMERGY BX300 blade servers. Companies working with this technology can exploit the enormous savings potential of these highly integrated, energy saving and easily scalable compact servers, especially in front-end scenarios such as web and terminal server farms. As a result, Fujitsu Siemens Computers is extending its blade partnership program, a collaboration with leading specialist companies aimed at supplying complete blade server solutions, to include independent software vendor Altiris. It will join existing partners F5 Networks (specializing in scalability), AEP (security), APC (high availability for complete IT infrastructures), Citrix, Microsoft, Novell and Red Hat (web and terminal services), and Network Appliance (storage subsystems).
Altiris offers deployment solutions for desktop, notebook and server systems, and maintains sales and support representatives across the globe to maximize user satisfaction. Its Altiris® Deployment SolutionTM has been certified to support the PRIMERGY BX300 following extensive tests of the product by Fujitsu Siemens Computers. Now, users with heterogeneous IT infrastructures can employ this solution for blade servers and other PRIMERGY models, as well as their connected clients.
The Deployment Solution is currently used for the automated management of a variety of IT devices around the world. It not only simplifies the management of PRIMERGY BX300 blade servers, but also gives the user additional options over and above already established management tools such as ServerStart and RemoteDeploy, which reduce installation and update costs while fulfilling user requirements in the most optimal manner.
Currently, the PRIMERGY BX300 blade server has no technological equal in terms of compactness and infrastructure integration. Highly scalable terminal server and application server scenarios are the main areas in which this product ensures significant cost savings on installation, energy consumption and data center space requirements. One BX300 accommodates 20 server blades and the whole system needs only three height units per rack, allowing up to 300 servers with as many as 600 processors to be installed in a single 19-inch rack. Outstanding integration and excellent dual-CPU performance guarantee continuing market leadership for this solution with the current scalable infrastructure in typical front-end corporate applications.
