11/12/2003 - Conexant Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CNXT), a worldwide leader in semiconductor system solutions for digital information and home entertainment networks, announced that DeTeWe (Deutsche Telephonwerke Aktiengesellschaft & Co. KG), a German provider of telecommunications equipment, has selected its single-chip ADSL semiconductor solutions for several new products including the new TA 44dsl Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) terminal adaptor with integrated ADSL modem. DeTeWe will also incorporate Conexant's ADSL device into two new private branch exchange (PBX) products, providing its customers with an integrated digital telephony and broadband Internet access telephone system.
"We are very pleased to have been chosen by DeTeWe, particularly given their reputation for extraordinarily high quality products, as evidenced by their stringent qualification process and high levels of customer satisfaction," said Chee Kwan, vice president of Broadband Access Products for Conexant. "The integration of ADSL broadband access with both existing analog and newer digital technologies is a significant step forward in delivering on the promise of the broadband digital home."
"Conexant's product quality, superior levels of integration and system expertise were critical factors in our decision making process," said Thomas Wellhausen, head of development for DeTeWe. "Ensuring our customers receive consistent, high-quality performance products and service is paramount to our success, and teaming with companies such as Conexant helps us achieve this very important goal."
In order to be deployed in the Deutsche Telekom (DTAG) ADSL network, DeTeWe's Conexant-based products had to pass stringent performance stipulations meeting Deutsche Telekom's 1TR112 (U-R2) requirements. Conexant's ADSL products allow operation of ADSL together with either POTS (Annex A) or ISDN (Annex B), and enable them to comply with both US and European operating standards.
DeTeWe's TA 44dsl terminal adaptor is based on Conexant's single-chip CX82320 ADSL USB modem chipset. It allows consumers to take advantage of digital ISDN voice services using an analog handset as well as connect a fax or modem to a second terminal from a single handset.
DeTeWe's cordless LAN-Dect-Server OpenCom 130 PBX, which supports data and voice, is equipped with the Conexant CX82310 single-chip router. The OpenCom 130 is a one-box-solution scaling up for 190 users, providing system telephony, cordless system telephony and Internet access for the whole local area network (LAN). It also supports diverse applications such as LAN-based fax and voice mailboxes. The CX82310 complies with UR-2 type approval and supports broadband access via analog and ISDN trunk lines, as does the OpenCom 130.
Conexant's ADSL semiconductor solutions are optimized to address the growing demand for high-speed connectivity, and include a portfolio of form-factor options ranging from internal PCI to external USB and stand-alone bridge/routers.
