CSR Chips Power Logitech’s Bluetooth Desktop Product Line

11/12/2003 - CSR (Cambridge Silicon Radio) announced that its BlueCore single-chip is to be used by Logitech, the leading supplier of cordless peripherals, in its Bluetooth® mouse and keyboard product offerings. The Logitech® Cordless Desktop® MXTM for Bluetooth®, Logitech® MXTM900 Bluetooth® Mouse and the Logitech® diNovoTM Media DesktopTM have the versatility to transform the PC into a Bluetooth control centre, so that in addition to wirelessly connecting a mouse and keyboard to a PC, you can also connect other Bluetooth mobile devices such as PDAs, mobile phones, headsets or printers. The complete line of Logitech Bluetooth products is now available via the company’s distribution channels.

Using CSR's BlueCore technology, Logitech is offering not only a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard but also a wireless hub that provides the ability to exchange data with mobile devices, which use Bluetooth wireless technology. The BlueCore single-chip solution operating a Class 2 Bluetooth device, allows secure use of the devices with a range of at least 10 metres.

Ian Diaper, Business development manager Europe, CSR, commented, "CSR has been able to provide Logitech with a Bluetooth chip that has a small footprint and includes full Bluetooth functionality, whilst remaining a cost efficient and reliable Bluetooth solution."

In 2002, Logitech launched its first Bluetooth product, the Logitech® Cordless PresenterTM. The device, which doubles as an optical mouse, uses Bluetooth technology to control presentations from up to 10 metres. CSR first began working with Logitech by providing the Bluetooth technology for the Cordless Presenter and for the USB receiver module to deliver a robust remote connection to laptops or PCs equipped with Bluetooth connectivity.
