11/7/2003 - Telchemy, the leading provider of technology for real time Voice over IP call quality monitoring announced the release of its VQmon Release 2.0 software. VQmon 2.0 is the first Voice over IP call quality monitoring technology to support the new “RTCP XR” protocol (RFC3611) for QoS reporting. VQmon and RTCP XR provide a powerful combination, ideal for Enterprise IP PBX management or demanding applications such as IP Centrex/ Hosted PBX.
VQmon/EP is integrated into IP Phones and IP Gateways, providing real time monitoring of live calls and reporting call quality through the media path (RTCP XR) or signaling protocols. VQmon/EP measures the statistical distribution of lost and discarded packets, examines delay and CODEC type, extracts information from the endpoint’s signal processing software, and applies sophisticated perceptual models to predict the user’s opinion of call quality. Conversational and Listening Quality metrics are reported, together with a rich set of supporting diagnostic data to support problem identification.
VQmon/SA provides the core Voice over IP analysis function for many probes, analyzers and SLA monitoring systems. VQmon/SA makes detailed measurements of the IP stream at key points in the packet stream, identifies which packets would be lost or discarded using a unique jitter buffer emulation algorithm, measures the statistical distribution of lost and discarded packets and employs the same powerful call quality analysis algorithms as VQmon/EP in order to produce consistent call quality metrics for endpoint and midpoint. In addition to providing the same comprehensive set of metrics as VQmon/EP, VQmon/SA provides a wealth of jitter buffer related statistics. VQmon/SA is able to automatically interpret RTCP XR reports from IP endpoints, providing instant comparisons between endpoint and midstream measurements to support rapid problem diagnosis.
Key new features of VQmon Release 2.0 include:
Telchemy is the leading provider of non-intrusive Voice over IP call quality monitoring and analysis software, widely used for service quality monitoring and management. Building on top of its focused and in depth research into the performance of Networked Multimedia, Telchemy is the world's first technology company to provide voice quality management tools that consider the effects of time-varying network impairments and the perceptual effects of time varying call quality.
