11/6/2003 - Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. and mCom Financial Solutions have released their first commercial automated-teller machine (ATM) application based on a strategic alliance the two firms formed last year.
Named Prism 1:1, the application enables financial institutions to offer new, revenue-generating services designed to meet customer needs on a "one-to-one" basis. Targeted towards medium and small financial institutions as a way to differentiate their solutions, Prism 1:1 features can include name display; frequent withdrawal preference; displayed account balances; data and event reminders; stock market, sports or weather updates; concert/event ticket dispensing; statement history and e-mail transaction receipts.
"Prism 1:1 allows customers to custom-design their ATM experiences from their own computers," said Neill Collins, Fujitsu's vice president of financial systems product operations. "It actually speeds the typical ATM transaction by minimizing keystrokes. It can also lower a financial institution's ATM-related costs by streamlining channel management. No other ATM supplier can deliver these features."
In 2002, Fujitsu teamed with mCom to create enhanced software and services for the company's ATM product line, which is designed to meet the needs of small- to medium-sized banks and other financial institutions. mCom is a Philadelphia-based software and solutions provider.
"Prism 1:1 allows banks to leverage the ATM channel by integrating mCom's interactive and multi-channel product suite with Fujitsu's Series 8000 ATMs and Prism software," said Tom Maiorino, mCom's chief executive officer. "The application can be seamlessly integrated into a bank's existing ATM environment, allowing legacy transactions to be conducted while delivering new services.
"The bank's customers will see improved and consistent branding and messaging; the bank will be able to remotely manage those screens and monitor customer uptake in real-time. Understanding what your customer wants results in maximized marketing efforts and increased customer retention."
Philadelphia-based NOVA Savings Bank is currently deploying Prism 1:1 in a Fujitsu Series 8015 cash dispenser located in Villanova University's on-campus field house. Complete with top-to-bottom "Villanova Wildcats" branding, the unit was designed specifically for university students, offering cash, customized banking services and a superior Nova brand experience. Prism 1:1 even enables the ATM to be the sole distributor of student basketball tickets, allowing the university to relieve congestion at its box office.
Prism 1:1 is offered as an optional feature for all Fujitsu Series 8000 ATMs and Windows-upgraded Series 7000 units. It can be purchased through Fujitsu's direct sales channel or through its dedicated business partners. The application will be demonstrated November 19 ? 20, in Fujitsu's Booth 1933, at BAI's Retail Delivery Conference & Expo being held at New Orleans' Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
