Birdstep’s RDM Embedded 7.0 Database Powers Danone’s Field Automation

11/6/2003 - Birdstep Technology (OSE: BIRD) announced Le Groupe Danone (NYSE: DA), a world leading provider of bottled water, fresh dairy products and biscuits, selected RDM Embedded 7.0 as one of their field force automation (FFA) system databases. Groupe Danone chose to connect their mobile workforce through QualityFour Technologies’ Pocket PC based FFA application, which required a small, fast database. Groupe Danone’s decision was based on Birdstep’s RDM Embedded 7.0’s small footprint, speed and ability to run on the Pocket PC operating system.

“Having our field personnel connected to one another through our corporate system by using an FFA system that we can count on provides an immediate return-on-investment, in part due to Birdstep’s RDM Embedded 7.0 that is fast, reliable and requires zero-administration,” commented Jean-Marc Brebant, Director IT Application Strategies, Groupe Danone.

“Birdstep continues to provide the smallest, fastest, most reliable database management systems to our customers, enabling companies such as Groupe Danone to deliver superior products to their customers,” said Tom Clark, Birdstep President and COO.

RDM Embedded 7.0 is a high-performance, cross-platform database that supports multiple desktop, UNIX, and real-time operating systems with C/C++, Java and SQL interfaces. Developers select RDM Embedded when real-time or system-critical performance is required. RDM Embedded databases have been designed to achieve high-speed performance. The combination of the Network database model, efficient memory usage, and caching allow RDM Embedded to operate at unparalleled speeds.
