Metrowerks Supports StarCore Licensable DSP Architectures 2.5

11/5/2003 - Metrowerks is expanding its support for StarCore LLC’s licensable digital signal processor (DSP) core technologies with the release of CodeWarriorTM Development Studio for StarCore DSP Architectures, Version 2.5. This latest suite of development tools has been optimized to help applications developers create DSP-based communications products and consumer electronics devices that are reliable, multifunctional and easy to use.

The CodeWarrior Development Studio for StarCore DSP Architectures, Version 2.5, allows developers to build and deploy applications for handsets, networking infrastructure and consumer products based on StarCore’s SC1200 and SC1400 families of DSP cores and platforms. Metrowerks has enhanced the quality of code generated by the studio’s compiler to match the flexibility and power of StarCore’s latest architectures by reducing or eliminating the need to hand-craft assembly code.

“Metrowerks’ CodeWarrior development solutions offer DSP developers a comprehensive tool chain for the StarCore architecture,” said Brian Deitrich, software tools planning manager, StarCore LLC. “Working with Metrowerks, our common goal is to offer developers a platform to create low-power, high-performance DSP applications using high-level C programming language and robust analysis tools. With the release of the CodeWarrior Development Studio for StarCore DSP Architectures, Version 2.5, DSP developers have an enhanced, integrated development suite supporting the new standard architecture for communications devices.”

The StarCore family of licensable embedded DSP cores and platforms offers developers high instruction and execution rates, increased compile-ability, and reduced power consumption. Version 2.5 of the Metrowerks suite enables DSP developers to take full advantage of the StarCore architecture’s capabilities to develop, debug and deploy applications for various networking communications markets, including wireless base stations and Internet telephony.

“The StarCore architecture provides application efficiency and the ability to generate high-performance, low-power consumption applications for complex communications systems,” said Calvin Harrison, NetComm marketing director, Metrowerks. “Metrowerks has worked closely with the StarCore design teams to provide DSP developers with best-in-class tools to take full advantage of this powerful architecture and tap into growing communications and consumer markets.”

Metrowerks offers developers a single, user-friendly integrated development environment (IDE) featuring:
