11/4/2003 - Nazomi Communications, Inc., the inventor of universal and scalable solutions for boosting the performance of multimedia and Java applications and Sinjisoft, developer of Mobile C and Korea's leading mobile solution provider, announced the alignment of their technologies to boost the performance of multimedia rich mobile phones. After extensive evaluation, both Sinjisoft and SKT have determined that Nazomi's JA108 multimedia application processor is the best solution to accelerate the GNEX and over 50,000 graphics rich games available on SKT's wireless handset platform.
Choong Yeob Choi, CEO of Sinjisoft, commented, "The combined solution, Nazomi's JA108 chip and Sinjisoft's GNEX, will deliver a new dimension in multimedia experience to the Korean mobile industry. For SK Telecom's GIGA platform our combined solution has achieved GNEX acceleration of 30x, 2D graphics acceleration by 10X and over 6x acceleration for 3D graphics. JA108 allows content developers to fully take advantage of the next generation of performance provisioned by GNEX. Content Providers can now develop beyond the previous limitations put on mobile.
"Nazomi's JA108 can accelerate any VM running on any processor and we are glad to prove that our JA108 multimedia application processor has taken Sinjisoft's GNEX performance to a new level" said Mukesh Patel, president and CEO of Nazomi. "Sinjisoft, a global leader with over 14 million handsets in the consumers hands, provides a high performance Virtual Machine and Gaming Solution for wireless handsets. We are very happy to see that the combination of Nazomi's JA108 and Sinjisoft's GNEX contributes significantly to a richer, faster and more energy efficient multimedia experience for SKT's customers."
About the GIGA Project
The GIGA Project is a next-generation mobile phone project promoted by SK Telecom. Multimedia is a buzzword in the mobile Internet market. Reflecting this trend, carriers and device manufacturers are devising releases of multi-functional high-end phones with features such as a camera, color screen and multi-poly sound. The GIGA project is aimed to build an environment from which users can download and play the mobile rich media such as mobile 3D or mobile flash in high-end devices with acceleration chip (ex. Nazomi JA108 etc). SK Telecom, handset manufacturers, chip manufacturers, solution providers and content providers participate in the GIGA project for promoting a mobile Internet market. GIGA phones enhance the performance of applications and dramatically increase the performance (show 5-6 times graphic processing performance than general phone) of multimedia (2D/3D Graphics, Video, Audio, Animation and JPEG image) while reducing power consumption.
About Sinjisoft's GNEX
GNEX is the next generation of the GVM, the predominant mobile gaming solution in Korea. A VM optimized for the mobile, GNEX is a solution that allows multimedia contents to be downloaded via the wireless. With extensive upgrades, GNEX plays even more explosive graphics and sound to the wireless game media. Supporting 500Kb and more with True color and 3D capabilities, GNEX is apt to once again change the views on what is possible on the mobile phone. With the JA108 (Nazomi) embedded, contents display unbelievable speed and users experience speed and performance beyond what was previously possible. Sinjisoft's mobile gaming solution has been ported on 14 million handsets with monthly downloads of 6 million! It is servicing through SK Telecom (CDMA) in Korea and Partner Communication (GSM/GPRS) in Israel.
Sinjisoft Corporation is a mobile S/W solution company. Playing the role of a catalyst, Sinjisoft improves, develops and consults the necessary factors to make mobile business profitable and exciting. As with the GVM, their next product, the GNEX will bring the next excitement to once again jump-start the mobile market. The Company also supplies Man-Machine Interface (MMI or UI), GNEX Contents Management System (GMS) and so on. Sinjisoft, with the biggest market share in Korea, has been duplicating the success of the GNEX to Israel. About Nazomi's JA108
The JA108 Chip, built on innovative and patented technology, is designed to offload the task of executing performance demanding multimedia applications from the baseband processor in wireless handheld devices. It accomplishes this without requiring additional memory, new tools or new porting efforts. The chip, which interfaces like a standard SRAM device, is a stand-alone Application Processor for Java and multimedia platforms that can be easily integrated into new and existing designs by using the memory bus. The chip is available in an 8x8 mm 132 ball TFBGA 0.5 mil pitch configuration.
The JA108 works with any baseband processor, chipset, system on chip (SoC), or microprocessor and is transparent to existing designs and legacy operating systems. It also gives designers the freedom to choose any Java Virtual Machine (JVM) or real-time operating system (RTOS). The JA108 is designed to offer the highest multimedia application performance while balancing space, power, cost and time to market.
