10/29/2003 - Computer Access Technology Corporation (CATC) (NASDAQ: CATZ), a leading communications protocol expert company, announced the availability of Version 2.03 of their USB protocol expert analysis software. This new release enables users of CATCís USB analyzers to capture, decode and analyze Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) traffic. CATCís extensive line of USB analyzers is the first on the market to offer support for decoding PTP. This new functionality enables digital camera, printer, cell phone and PDA designers and manufacturers to accelerate their development and delivery of new products.
Picture Transfer Protocol is a standard device driver used by digital still cameras to transfer images. With this protocol, image files can be transferred between a digital still camera and peripheral devices via USB without a specific device driver. The V2.03 software release supports CATCís Advisor, USBMobile Classic, USBMobile High Speed, USBTracer/Trainer Classic and USBTracer/Trainer High Speed protocol analyzers.
ďAs the leader in USB protocol analysis, we are committed to delivering superior solutions to our customers,Ē stated Fred Rastgar, director of Computing Products for CATC. ďAs more and more devices utilizing the PTP standard are being developed, our customers requested that we add PTP decoding to our extensive line of expert analysis products. Implementing PTP support for our analyzers allows our customers to quickly troubleshoot their product designs and deliver their products to market sooner.Ē
Like all CATC products, the USB line of analyzers utilize the powerful CATC TraceĀ expert analysis software to process, decode and analyze captured USB traffic. The CATC Trace embeds deep understanding of the USB protocol hierarchy and intricacies and presents this information to the user in a colorful, intuitive and easy to use graphical display, allowing customers to quickly discover and correct persistent and intermittent errors and flaws in product designs.
CATCís Advisor, USBMobile, and USBTracer/Trainer protocol analyzers are now available with PTP support. Existing USB analyzer customers with current Maintenance agreements will receive the software release free of charge.
