TIBCO's Portal Solution Helps August Storck KG Optimize Procurement

10/29/2003 - TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ:TIBX), a leading enabler of real-time business and the world’s largest independent business integration software company, as demonstrated by market share and analyst reports, announced that leading German confectionary manufacturer August Storck KG, has implemented a Web services initiative using the TIBCO portal solution. By automating manual processes in its purchasing and HR departments Storck, the global candy manufacturer with brand names like Werther’s Original, was able to improve both their supply chain procurement process and HR staff productivity.

“Since working with TIBCO, Storck has achieved significant time and cost savings with its e-procurement initiative by automating manual procurement processes. We selected TIBCO for their strategic focus on integrated portals, EAI and process management. We needed our e-procurement portal to seamlessly integrate with our ERP system and other existing applications,” said Michael Rasper, head of Information Systems and E-Business at August Storck KG. “TIBCO’s standard interfaces and flexibility lets us establish a global standard for information access throughout the enterprise and has strengthened our supplier and employee relationships.”

The TIBCO Warehouse and Procurement (W&P) portal solution created by Storck provides a standard two-way interface for information flow between Storck’s SAP R/3 system and TIBCO portal applications, speeding the time to get the value out of Storck’s SAP investment. Storck’s suppliers connecting through the TIBCO portal can view a list of warehouse stocks and material requirements generated by SAP. When materials reach designated levels, suppliers are directed to facilitate timely reorder, and receive a contract in XML format reducing the entire process to just minutes. Storck now has a better view for managing warehouse stock and manufacturing capacity while dramatically reducing the time and cost.

The Employee Self Service (ESS) portal publishes information and documents targeted to each internal user community, who can now download documents any time they need them. The ESS has significantly reduced routine enquiries allowing Storck’s HR staff to concentrate on more productive tasks.

"Storck sells top-quality chocolates and candy all over the world, and their commitment to quality extends to their supply chain and employee relationships,” said Erik Hansen, president of EMEA, TIBCO Software Inc. “The TIBCO solution at Storck is another reflection of our leadership in high-performance portals that leverage companies’ existing investments with standard interfaces.”
