10/24/2003 - Extended Systems (NASDAQ: XTND), a leading provider of mobile application solutions for the enterprise, was honored as the winner of Qualcomm's 3G cdmA-List Award, presented this week at CTIA Wireless in Las Vegas. The company was recognized for its contributions to the advancement of mobility in the enterprise and for its OneBridge Mobile Platform, which allows up-to-the-minute access to corporate email and other enterprise applications over multiple wireless network types.
The 3G cdmA-List Awards honor leading companies, public agencies and non-profit entities across all industries for their successful wireless data solutions based on 3G CDMA2000 networks, devices and business applications. The program also recognizes enabling partners such as hardware and software vendors, consultants and carriers that have supported these organizations with their wireless deployments.
Extended Systems' customer YouthPlaces, an organization that provides at-risk youth with safe places to play and learn life skills, received the award in the non-profit category. YouthPlaces implemented a mobile solution that tracks children's attendance and progress. The solution utilizes plastic bar-coded tags, Palm OS-based handheld bar code scanners and Extended Systems' OneBridge Mobile Platform as the data synchronization and application update mechanism. Data is transmitted to a central server over a wireless CDMA 1xRTT wireless network.
The solution replaced a paper-based system, reduced data entry errors and increased reaction times. Extended Systems was recognized as an enabling partner alongside Proxicast, a Pittsburgh-based developer of handheld and wireless solutions.
