Alcom Deploys Paradyne's GranDSLAM 4200IP for Multimedia over Broadband

10/23/2003 - Paradyne Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PDYN), a leading provider of broadband voice, data and video network access solutions, announced that its GranDSLAM® 4200IP DSLAM has been selected for deployment by Alands Datakommunikation (Alcom), the leading provider of telecommunications solutions in the Aland Islands, Finland.

The GranDSLAM 4200IP DSLAM, one of the industries first ADSL2 products, enables service providers to supply high-quality DSL solutions competitively in a stackable form factor. It is a video-ready DSLAM that incorporates traffic prioritization techniques, multicast functionality and Paradyne's Quick ChannelÔ technology for quick, crisp channel changes.

"We are currently deploying the Paradyne GranDSLAM 4200IP throughout our network in order to grow our ADSL deployments," said Conny Rosenberg, CEO of Alcom. "We selected the GranDSLAM 4200IP because it proved to be ahead of competitors in performance benchmark testing and it is well suited for voice, video and data services."

Alcom will initially be deploying data services and will soon be incorporating a video on demand service using the GranDSLAM 4200IP. In addition, the GranDSLAM 4200IP will be used in the future for new services such as broadcast video.
