10/17/2003 - Designers of multi-layer and Gigabit Ethernet-enabled enterprise switches can now take advantage of the carrier-grade reliability and massive scalability of the QNX® Neutrino® realtime operating system (RTOS). QNX Software Systems announced support for the Broadcom® StrataXGSTM family of switch products, and the availability of an optimized board support package (BSP) for Broadcom's StrataXGS switch architecture, aimed at the creation of stackable, highly integrated network switches, blades, and routing equipment.
The QNX BSP for StrataXGS includes source code, documentation, and several runtime components that allow developers to get their designs up and running quickly using the QNX Neutrino RTOS. The BSP can be used on Windows, Solaris, or QNX Neutrino development hosts.
"The QNX Neutrino RTOS is an excellent complement to the StrataXGS chip family," said Martin Lund, senior director of Broadcom's Enterprise Switching line of business. "QNX Neutrino's optimized support for Broadcom's Gigabit-enabled development platforms provides a choice to customers who need to get their networking products to market faster and at lower development cost."
"The modular architecture of the QNX Neutrino RTOS provides networking customers unparalleled scalability and reliability," said Sebastien Marineau, senior netcoms architect, QNX Software Systems. "Now, with the availability of this BSP, Broadcom customers can also jump-start their design process and significantly shorten their development cycle."
QNX now provides optimized support for the entire Broadcom StrataXGS line of products, including the StrataXGS fabric (BCM5670 and BCM5671) as well as the StrataXGS switch products (BCM5673, BCM5690, BCM5691, BCM5692 and BCM5693). QNX also supports symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) on Broadcom's award-winning SiByteTM BCM1250 dual-processor system.
Availability and Pricing
The QNX BSP for Broadcom StrataXGS is available now. The BSP is priced at US$1734.
