10/15/2003 - Fujitsu Network Communications Inc. announced it is conducting the first live multivendor interoperable, packet-based data, advanced video, and voice services over copper and fiber infrastructures at the USTA Telecom '03.
The live demonstration will take place at the USTA Telecom '03 exhibition in Las Vegas, on booth #613.
Fujitsu will show the industry's first FSAN/ITU-compliant multivendor interoperability between a central office Optical Line Terminal (OLT) and Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) at the customer demarcation point. To do this, Fujitsu will employ Entrisphere's leading-edge BLM 1500TM platform. The BLM 1500 OLT solution leads the market in flexibility and functionality with capabilities including an optional integrated voice gateway, full flow-through provisioning, industry-leading densities, and network connectivity choices including ATM, SONET, and Ethernet interfaces. ONTs including the Vinci Systems V-142 will be demonstrated at the customer premises, and video overlay networking components are provided by Harmonic, Inc.
Fujitsu will demonstrate how its fully converged Full Service Access Network (FSAN) integrates all FTTP components to reduce interconnections, supports all existing services, and is compatible with both established and next generation OSSs. The BLM 1500 has been fully characterized through the OSMINE process for immediate deployability, and includes patent-pending Virtual Network Element technology that allows seamless migration to next generation OSSs. A complete EMS including a northbound TL1 interface rounds out the comprehensive management solution, and the optional integrated voice gateway functionality has been homologated with voice switches including Lucent's 5ESS® switch, Nortel's DMS series switches and AG Communication Systems' GTD-5® switch. The result is a fully integrated solution that allows service providers to deploy the "Triple Play" (bundled voice, video and data services) profitably today.
Entrisphere is building the first access platform that offers incumbent carriers an operationally transparent pathway from today's overlay networks to tomorrow's converged multiservice networks. Founded by a team with decades of senior management and technical experience at Bell Labs as well as several major suppliers to Bell Operating Companies, Entrisphere uniquely understands the operational challenges of incumbents seeking to migrate their networks to preserve their competitive leadership. Privately held, Entrisphere is based in Santa Clara, California.
