SBE Doubles Call Voice Conferencing Capacity with T3 Solution

10/9/2003 - SBE Inc. (NASDAQ: SBEI), a leading supplier of high performance OEM communications solutions, announced that it has been chosen to provide a channelized T3 solution for a major supplier of business conferencing systems.

Due to overwhelming market demands, the voice conferencing provider needs to double the call capacity of their current system in their next generation solution. Achieving this objective requires that the company migrate from its current T1 lines to channelized T3 access. Each system will require three intelligent T3 board sets. Board volumes are conservatively estimated to range from 250 to 300 per year, resulting in recurring revenues of over $700,000 annually, starting in fiscal 2005.

"Cost savings to the end user and additional features are driving opportunities in next generation voice conferencing systems," stated Daniel Grey, senior vice president of sales and marketing for SBE. "SBE places great emphasis on ensuring that our customers meet the demands of their customers. We're pleased that SBE had a viable solution ready for immediate integration into our customer's voice conferencing system, and look forward to supporting them on this and future initiatives."

The SBE boards used in deploying the T3 solution include the wanPTMC-256T3 interface module integrated onto the HW400c/M I/O processor running embedded Linux. The wanPTMC-256T3 combines a fully channelized T3 path for voice with a 256-channel HDLC controller in a single PTMC adapter. The HighWireTM Series' HW400c/M is a 6U CompactPCI core processor with dual PTMC/PMC sites, dual Ethernet, PICMG 2.16 packet switched backplane, and H.110 CT-bus interfaces. Due to its architectural flexibility, SBE is in discussions to provide additional communications interfaces to this customer in the near future.
