Companies Track Licenses with Marimba's Software Usage Solution

Marimba's Software Usage Solution allows IT organizations to identify and collect detailed information on software applications installed throughout their enterprise, and to take action with that information to help ensure license compliance and avoid overspending for unnecessary software licenses, maintenance, and support.

Combined with Marimba's flagship Desktop/Mobile Management offerings, the Software Usage Solution can be used for updating applications in need of repair, OS migration projects, server consolidation, and other software change management processes.

Customers have used Marimba's tested and proven inventory capabilities to identify software assets as part of an overall software change management process. The Software Usage Solution provides enhancements to these capabilities that help customers ensure license compliance and save money on software maintenance and support costs.

Industry analysts at Gartner, Inc. estimate that software audits will increase by 20 percent or more by the year 2005 (0.7 probability)*, as software companies seek to minimize lost revenue associated with customers deploying more software licenses beyond what they purchased. In today's distributed computing environment, numerous scenarios exist that may cause unintended compliance issues for companies such as decentralized purchasing of software, employees changing jobs within the same company, or improperly defined asset management policies.
