TelASIC Communications Receives Series C Funding from Agilent

10/3/2003 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced that Agilent Ventures has participated in the Series C Preferred Stock funding round for TelASIC Communications Inc. TelASIC is a venture-funded fabless semiconductor company delivering radio frequency (RF), analog mixed signal and digital solutions to the wireless marketplace, as well as the recently announced BaseFlex chipset for wireless base stations.

Agilent's investment was part of a round of funding led by Raytheon Company and venture capital firms ComVentures, Mission Ventures and Redpoint Ventures, which raised $35 million in equity. Founded in April 2001 as a spin-off from Raytheon Company, TelASIC Communications is unique in its ability to offer fabless semiconductor designs based on silicon germanium (SiGe) process technology, and has a long-standing relationship with IBM's foundry.

"Agilent's investment in TelASIC underscores our ongoing pursuit of innovative, early-stage technologies with seasoned co-investors," said Maximilian Schroeck, managing director of Agilent Ventures. "Our interest in TelASIC is aligned with our strategic interest in mixed-signal technology platforms that support a variety of Agilent test and measurement solutions."
