10/2/2003 - Denali Software, Inc., the leading provider of electronic design automation (EDA) tools and intellectual property (IP) for chip interface design and verification, announced it has joined the newly formed Advanced Switching Interconnect Special Interest Group (ASI SIG). The Arapahoe Working Group (AWG), responsible for developing the Advanced Switching specification, will transfer the technology and IP to the ASI SIG at the end of this year.
Denali is currently chairing the AWG Compliance Work Group, and is developing simulation models and tools for verifying design compliance with the Advanced Switching specification. These new models and design verification tools provide chip designers with an efficient means of ensuring compliance with the Advanced Switching specification, and interoperability with other compatible devices. Denaliís responsibilities as chair of the AWG Compliance Work Group will be transferred into the new ASI SIG.
Advanced Switching technology is targeted at control plane and switch fabrics, routers and switches, wireless basestations, media gateways and storage-networking gear, as well as chip-to-chip connections.
"The Advanced Switching specification is receiving overwhelming support from companies throughout the communications industry," said Rajeev Kumar, president of the ASI-SIG and Advanced Switching technology manager of the Intel Communications Group. "Design tools for verifying compliance and interoperability, such as those from Denali, are a key part of the ecosystem and help to speed broad adoption of the Advanced Switching Interconnect standard."
"Denali is very enthusiastic about Advanced Switching technology for the networking and communications industry," said Denali CTO Mark Gogolewski. "We are enabling a broad customer base with tools and technology for PCI Express designs, and now we have customers asking us to support the emerging Advanced Switching Interconnect standard. Denali is taking an active role in developing the compliance infrastructure within the ASI SIG. Leveraging our current PureSpecTM product platform for PCI Express technology enables us to jumpstart the compliance and interoperability solution for the Advanced Switching interconnect specification."
PureSpec is a verification IP product used by chip designers to simulate, and verify PCI Express design interfaces. PureSpec models all devices in the PCI Express topology, including the root complex, switch, endpoint, and PCI Express to PCI bridge. Within PureSpec, all protocol layers (physical, data link, transaction) of the PCI Express specification are completely modeled and can be simulated simultaneously or used separately. The product contains thousands of assertions that are monitored during simulation to ensure compliance with the PCI Express specification, and interoperability with other PCI Express devices. Injected errors and error conditions are also flagged and recovered according to PCI Express specifications. The PureSpec product is built on the proven product architecture of Denali's MMAV product, which has been used to verify complex memory interfaces for thousands of successful designs, and provides seamless integrations to all popular EDA tools and verification languages. Proven product platform, dedicated customer support, and unmatched EDA modeling and verification expertise make PureSpec the best-in-class verification IP solution for PCI Express designs. The PureSpec product is available now for customer evaluation at: www.denali.com/purespec
