10/1/2003 - Dot Hill (NASDAQ: HILL) announced that its ultra-slim SANnet® II Blade storage system is shipping now. The SANnet II Blade is a compact, highly redundant, Ultra160 SCSI RAID or JBOD storage system that provides over a half terabyte of storage in a rack-mountable 1U (1.75 inches high) form factor. Based on open standards and compatible with open systems platforms such as Windows, Linux, and Unix, SANnet II Blade easily fits into diverse IT, telco and military environments.
The SANnet II Blade is ideally suited for environments where space is at premium, yet reliability is critical. The RAID version includes a hardware RAID controller, dual hot swappable power and cooling and four drive bays accommodating 36GB, 73GB or 146GB SCSI drives. The Blade can scale up to 1.75 terabytes using twelve drives and two expansion units. It is optimized for speed, providing sustained transfer rates up to 130MB per second using high-performance 10,000 or 15,000 RPM drives. Complete SANnet II Blade solutions start at under $7300 retail and are available immediately.
The SANnet II Blade is available in RAID or JBOD models that support one or two hosts. Both utilize the same technologies as SANnet II SCSI storage systems, including identical RAID controller and drives, yet in an even smaller package. Like all the products in the SANnet II family, the Blade is available with AC or DC power options and is certified to meet the rigorous NEBS Level 3 standards along with MIL-STD-810F, commonly known as "Mil-Spec."
"SANnet II Blade is a cost-effective storage solution that offers the reliability and performance to match the needs of today's sophisticated 1U servers," said Dot Hill Director of Marketing Omar Barraza. "It's a channel-friendly product our reseller partners can easily incorporate into entry-level solutions for their clients. Service providers also find the SANnet II Blade to be to an appropriate solution for applications running in rack-optimized server environments."
Wausau Financial Systems (WFS), a leading provider of transaction processing applications, uses the SANnet II Blade in its Optima 3® payment processing solutions . "We selected the SANnet II Blade because its small footprint helps reduce the overall space needed to deploy our solutions in customer environments where that is a requirement," said Mike Markevitch, WFS' Configuration Supervisor. "Even with its compact size, the Blade still gives us the interoperability and scalability we need." WFS' Optima 3 payment processing solutions provide administration, capture/retrieval, completion, analysis, reports and research and are seamlessly scalable for future growth.
