Parasoft Offers Tests for WS-I Basic Profile 1.0 with SOAPtest 2.1

10/1/2003 - Parasoft, leading provider of Automated Error Prevention (AEP) software solutions announced that SOAPtest 2.1 now has extended testing capabilities for Basic Profile 1.0, a set of specifications developed by the Web Services Interoperability Organization (WS-I) that establishes a baseline for interoperable Web services.

SOAPtest 2.1 tests the Web Services Description Language (WSDL) for conformance to Basic Profile 1.0 using the Test Tools developed by WS-I. Parasoft contributed to writing the Test Tools as a member of the WS-I Test Tools Working Group, and an official version will be released by WS-I in November.

"Being actively involved in the development of Basic Profile 1.0 and the Test Tools has allowed us to tightly couple them with the new version of SOAPtest," said Gary Brunell, Parasoft Vice President of Professional Services. "We joined WS-I because we believe in the importance of achieving Web services interoperability, and fully-integrating SOAPtest 2.1 with Basic Profile 1.0 will help users reach that goal."

SOAPtest uses the URL to the WSDL to quickly and easily test for conformance to Basic Profile 1.0. SOAPtest parses the WSDL, passes it to the Test Tools and produces a WS-I conformance report that can be viewed in a web browser. Since the Test Tools are tightly integrated with SOAPtest, users can also use the conformance reports to create regression tests.

About SOAPtest
Parasoft SOAPtest is an Automated Error Prevention product for Web services and enterprise applications built with SOAP. SOAPtest automatically performs server functional testing, load testing, and client testing with just the click of a button. It automatically creates test suites from WSDL documents to test every operation associated with those documents. The same test suites used for functional testing can be used for load testing and monitoring, enabling users to verify whether traffic levels, patterns, or combinations cause functionality problems or decreased performance. SOAPtest verifies that clients send appropriate requests to services, and are able to handle responses as expected. In addition to one-click server functional testing, load testing, and client testing, SOAPtest also works as a proxy server, enabling users to view and verify messages between a client and a Web service. By using SOAPtest throughout the software lifecycle, users can prevent errors and improve the quality and reliability of their SOAP services. SOAPtest 2.1 runs on Windows 2000/XP, Linux and Solaris. Pricing starts at: $3495. For more information, please go to
