Fujitsu Software's Business Process Management Solution to be Integrated with RCO's Records Management Software

1/30/2003 - Fujitsu Software Corporation announced an OEM agreement with RCO, a provider of Internet-based records management solutions. Under terms of the agreement, Fujitsu Software Corporation's Interstage i-Flow business process management (BPM) solution will be embedded in RCO's Image 2000 records management software. The addition of Interstage i-Flow's best-in-class BPM and workflow capabilities will extend RCO's ability to support complex and heavily regulated industries where tracking processes and data are equally critical.

RCO enables mid-to-large size enterprise customers - which today include Bechtel, Orange County Sanitation, Fisher-Rosemont and Las Vegas Police - to leverage the Internet as a central "hub" for managing thousands of physical and electronic-based records, which can range in type from large documents, to film, audio files, drawings and other images. Most critically, through the integration of Interstage i-Flow, RCO customers will benefit from the automation of key processes such as record access, viewing, routing, approval, and management, eliminating inefficient manual processes that were prone to human error and delays. Ultimately, BPM and workflow will also provide greater insight into the customers' business overall, for which effective records management is an integral part of day-to-day business operations.

The initial phase of the partnership will focus on embedding Interstage i-Flow into RCO Image 2000. Once this initial integration is complete, Fujitsu Software Corporation and RCO plan to co-develop and deliver solutions tailored for specific industries, including architectural engineering, government and discrete manufacturing - addressing their requirements for such functions as coding, electronic signatures, and schedules for records retention.

RCO chose Fujitsu Software Corporation's Interstage i-Flow for its open, standards-based architecture, which integrates easily with legacy system and mainframe environments. This allows for rapid deployment and the ability to quickly adapt to changing business conditions. Prior to incorporating Interstage i-Flow into its product architecture, RCO created hand-coded, custom workflows for each and every implementation, at a significant cost in time and labor. Interstage i-Flow provides RCO with out-of-the-box workflow and BPM functionality, and a reliable, scalable foundation for any size implementation. RCO also provides interfaces to popular packages such as accounting and HR applications, allowing for seamless integration with other business functions and processes.

"Partnering with Fujitsu Software Corporation is a strategic move because our customers increasingly are recognizing the advantages of implementing workflow for records management, but they don't have the in-house expertise or resources to develop this capability internally," said Roy Nabel, partner of RCO. "Since Interstage i-Flow is platform-independent and feature-rich, we have every confidence that leveraging their technology will be a competitive advantage for RCO and of great benefit for our customers, whose IT systems are extremely varied and diverse. Fujitsu Software Corporation offers us the flexibility and adaptability that few vendors can match."

"RCO provides a valuable service to many companies, allowing business users to make better decisions - and validate those decisions - with information on-demand," said Charles W. Chang, vice president of sales and marketing at Fujitsu Software Corporation. "We are excited to begin working together to bring BPM-enabled records management to a variety of industries, creating more effective business processes that can translate into lower operating costs, streamlined management of regulated activities, and improved customer service."

Interstage i-Flow is the first Java-based and only 100% browser-based business process management solution, allowing for seamless integration with Web-based systems. Interstage i-Flow is highly customizable and can be tailored to meet customers' unique requirements. Its intuitive graphical user interface enables customers to easily build workflow applications according to their specific needs. Customers reduce operating expenses, improve productivity, efficiency and time-to-market.
