1/29/2003 - L. David Sikes (61), Chairman of U.S. semiconductor maker Ramtron International Corporation (Nasdaq:RMTR), announced plans to retire from the board effective January 31, 2003, after 10 years with the company. Mr. Sikes has been the company's Chairman of the Board since April 1995 and also held the position of chief executive officer up until January 2001. Previously, Mr. Sikes was the company's president and chief operating officer from July 1992 until January 1995.
"L. David's leadership at Ramtron has been instrumental in navigating our successful transition from a small R&D concern to a commercial enterprise," said Dr. Bill Howard, a senior Ramtron board member. "David's vision included forging alliances with key industry leaders, such as Infineon, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Hitachi, and Texas Instruments. In addition, he secured important manufacturing agreements with suppliers and raised the necessary capital to position the company for the commercial success we are experiencing today."

"It has been a rewarding experience to see Ramtron's unique technologies mature and gain market acceptance over the last 10 years, and I see solid growth potential going forward."
Before joining Ramtron, Mr. Sikes was president and chief executive officer of ASM America, Inc., a semiconductor equipment company, from 1991 until 1992, and served in key executive positions for ASM Epitaxy and ASM Lithography from 1987 to 1991. Prior to his tenure with ASM, Mr. Sikes spent 18 years with Motorola, Inc. in various management and executive positions, including vice president and director of Semiconductor Research and Development Lab. His experience also includes several management and engineering roles with Eastman Kodak and National Semiconductor Corporation. Mr. Sikes received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from MIT in 1963.
L. David Sikes and his wife Diane have relocated to Half Moon Bay, California to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He retires from the board of Ramtron to pursue consulting opportunities and has agreed to provide consulting services to Ramtron on an as-needed basis. Mr. and Mrs. Sikes were actively involved in the non-profit community during their 10 years in Colorado Springs, most notably with CASA of Colorado Springs, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, and the Women's Foundation of Colorado. Mrs. Sikes continues as an honorary trustee for both the Women's Foundation and CASA.
The company's Board of Directors plans to name a new Chairman of the Board during the first quarter of 2003.
