Swapcom, Movilisto Ring up Wireless Headset Compliancy

1/24/2003 - Swapcom, leading provider of mobile software systems in Europe, has reached a new agreement with Movilisto, Spain's leading provider of SMS-based interactive services.

Movilisto operates Spain's most popular logos and ring tones download service. With many brands of mobile terminals available today on the Spanish market, Movilisto was faced with the obligation to support a rapidly increasing number of proprietary and standardized protocols to keep up with the new downloadable features constantly being made available by the handset vendors.

Movilisto has overcome this critical issue by integrating Swapcom's Handset Manager, a best-of-class software which enables mobile operators and service providers to significantly improve their services' compliancy with the wide variety of handsets available on the market. Handset Manager is presently compliant with more than 300 handsets and supports a variety of downloadable features.

Handset Manager formats standard multimedia files (pictures, animation and sound files) and dynamically transcodes them into formats that are compliant with the handset selected. A wide range of features can be thus downloaded to the handsets: icons, screensavers, wall-papers, animations, monophonic and polyphonic ring tones, WAP-GPRS-MMS access settings, EMS-MMS messages, etc.

"We have chosen Swapcom technology because of its experience and its market recognition. In a market with that need of flexibility Swapcom provides our systems with the right solutions." says Mr Sixto Arias, Communication Manager of Movilisto.

"Handset Manager is clearly a very valuable software in a market such as Spain where many handset vendors are present and fight for market share. Handset Manager's extensive compliancy enables telecom operators and service providers to cash in on the huge success of handset personalization services by addressing nearly all the handsets available on their market. This in turn becomes a key differentiator in a very competitive market." says Nicolas Mialaret, Swapcom South Europe Sales Manager.

Swapcom develops wireless value-added services thanks to proven high quality software and cutting-edge technology. Already leader on the French market with nearly 60% of share of market of the telephone personalization, Swapcom confirms the development of its commercial activity on the South European market.

Take part in Swapcom demos at 3GSM World Congress on February 18 to 21, 2003 in Cannes, France (Hall 3 - booth H23).
