RadiSys Announces New Long Life Endura Motherboard for Intel Pentium 4 Processors

1/21/2003 - RadiSys Corp. (Nasdaq: RSYS) announced the Endura BG845G Pentium 4 microATX motherboard, the latest in its popular Endura family of long life motherboards. The BG845G supports both Intel® Pentium® 4 and Celeron® processors and incorporates enhanced embedded features that expand its versatility and render it ideal for use in embedded computing applications. The family of long life Endura motherboards, first introduced in 1999, is now widely used by OEMs supplying products such as medical equipment, test & measurement, industrial automation, gaming, communications and ATM terminals. To date, the BG845G has received strong support and RadiSys has received a number of design wins based on the new board. The BG845G is also being actively evaluated by numerous companies in a broad range of industries.

"As embedded systems grow in complexity, developers need higher performance platforms that deliver leading edge technology and don't cost a fortune to sustain over the product life cycle," said Fred Yentz, vice president for RadiSys. "RadiSys has a reputation for providing embedded solutions with exceptional engineering support and revision control all of which equate to a lower cost of ownership. We not only supply customers with the platform necessary to develop better products faster, but they can also count on the availability over a timeframe far exceeding commercial motherboards."

Engineered to meet the needs of embedded equipment developers, the BG845G is also designed to support Pentium 4 mobile processors for applications where reduced power consumption is an important selection criterion. To ensure longevity, the BG845G incorporates Intel's 845GV embedded chipset, which has a projected lifetime of 5 years. The board is also equipped with six high-speed USB 2.0 ports allowing simultaneous use of multiple high bandwidth peripherals. Other unique features include dual Ethernet ports (Gigabit or 10/100), a watchdog timer, a 13-bit GPIO port (capable of driving a character mode LCD display) and support for PCI riser cards facilitating the use in low profile chassis. To enable compliance with standards required for legalised gaming applications, the BG845G is designed with a build option for socketed, write-protected BIOS. Additionally a TPM module enables the BG845G to be used as a secure platform in equipment such as transaction terminals where security features are increasingly required as a design-in feature for next generation products.

About Endura BG845G
The RadiSys BG845G supports the latest high performance Pentium 4 and Celeron processors at bus speeds of 400 MHz and 533 MHz. Reduced power consumption is also possible via Pentium 4 mobile processors. The BG845G has support for large memory with up to 2GB of PC266 DDR SDRAM and has six high-speed USB 2.0and 1.1 ports enabling fast serial communication at 480 Mbs (40 times the speed of USB1.1). In addition to the integrated Intel Extreme graphics, flexibility in the type of displays supported is provided via support for AGP Digital Display Cards (ADD). These cards plug into the AGP slot and can be used to drive DVI, DFP, LVDS and TV-out displays. RadiSys has also designed a companion LVDS ADD card for those customers looking for a long life LVDS interface solution. The BG845G features a build option for dual Ethernet ports using either 10/100 or Gigabit Ethernet controllers.

Pricing and Availability
The Endura BG845G is sampling with customers now and will be available in production quantities in April 2003. The MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price) for unit quantities of the base specification (with single 10/100 Ethernet) is $248. Discounts are available for OEM quantities.
