1/21/2003 - Emosyn LLC, the fabless semiconductor division of ATMI, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATMI), and M-Systems (Nasdaq: FLSH), a leader in flash-based data storage products, announced that they have signed a cooperation agreement to optimize M-Systems' SuperMAP cryptographic coprocessors for use within Emosyn's products.
The first Emosyn product family to integrate SuperMAP technology will be the TheseusTM Platinum family of secure microprocessors. The Theseus Platinum family is a leading Flash memory design for the smart card market. Theseus Platinum products enable secure transactions for mobile phone, banking, identification and public transportation card markets.
"We are pleased to enter into this cooperation agreement with Emosyn," said Dan Dariel, manager of M-Systems' Fortress Security Division. "Emosyn produces some of the smallest, most cost-effective and power efficient products in the market. Our SuperMAP will complement these features with the most versatile state of the art cryptographic coprocessor, well known for its best performance vs. size."
"M-Systems' powerful SuperMAP technology is the established encryption standard in the smart card market," said Phil Barnett, director of Technology Strategy for Emosyn. "The industry is waking up to the needs of lower power, increased performance and improved flexibility for customers that flash-based products can provide. The Theseus Platinum family is Emosyn's second generation of flash-based secure microprocessors for the smart card market. Together, we're bringing proven, effective designs with the highest security available to the smart card and secure IC markets."
SuperMAP cryptographic coprocessors are a comprehensive family of hardware macrocells developed by M-Systems for accelerating cryptographic functions. These patented devices implement sophisticated public key encryption in both conventional RSA and Elliptic Curve (with single step multiply and divide).
Emosyn LLC, a fabless semiconductor company, is the only commercial provider of second-generation Flash memory, security microprocessors to the smart card market. Emosyn is a subsidiary of ATMI, Inc. Emosyn has a design center in San Jose, California; corporate headquarters in Danbury, Connecticut; and sales and marketing headquarters in Europe.
