1/20/2003 - Beckhoff continues their global expansion. The new target of the export activities is Italy because of its strong machine construction and plant engineering base. Beckhoff decided that a subsidiary was the best way to fully leverage the strong market in Italy for their products. Beckhoff Automation S.r.l. will operate with head office in Milan and a sales offices in Bologna beginning 01.01.2003.
Italy is Europe's second largest machine market and is ideally suited for Beckhoff automation systems based on PC-based control technology, particularly in the wood, plastics and packaging sectors. The new branch offers the Italian industry direct sales, support and service for all Beckhoff products through experienced automation specialists.
The manager of the new subsidiary is Pierluigi Olivari, with support from initially four further members of staff. The head office of Beckhoff Italy is located in the industrial metropolis of Milan. A local sales office in Bologna ensures customer-orientated support in central Italy. Further locations are planned in order to ensure comprehensive coverage. Since 1997, Beckhoff had been represented in Italy by the distribution partner SIEI-Peterlongo S.p.A.
Export manager Kai Ristau is optimistic about the prospects for the new branch: "With our own branch offering direct sales and support we expect further rapid growth. The Italian market is receptive to the software-based automation solutions for PLC and Motion Control". The market prospects in terms of design & function also appear very good. "Since the Italians have a reputation for being very design-oriented, our visually sophisticated products such as the Control Panels will contribute to our success", said Pierluigi Olivari.
The new Italian branch brings the number of foreign Beckhoff subsidiaries and agencies to nine. Together with the distribution partners, Beckhoff "New Automation Technology" is represented in more than 35 countries worldwide.
