1/17/2003 - Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European computer company, announced next steps to the Global Framework Agreement signed with Vodafone in November 2002. The agreement allows Fujitsu Siemens Computers to offer business customers an extensive range of 'Connected by Vodafone' mobile computing devices such as PDAs, notebooks and Tablet PCs, including the company’s Pocket LOOX PDA, LIFEBOOK series of professional notebooks, and STYLISTIC Tablet PCs, with easy connection to Vodafone's GPRS data network.
All “Connected by Vodafone” Fujitsu Siemens Computers mobility devices will be tested, configured and supported by Fujitsu Siemens Computers, giving business customers a simpler connectivity experience. By providing business customers with instant, secure mobile access to their corporate networks, Mobile Enterprise Workers are able to access business critical applications, including mobile email, sales data and other mobility solutions, increasing productivity and efficiency. These are applications that enterprises are currently or will soon be deploying, including other Mobility Solutions, to increase productivity and efficiency of their business processes and their connected Mobile Workforce.
“Connected by Vodafone” will remove the complexity of implementation and configuration currently faced by enterprise customers, including IT Administrators and end users. All 'Connected by Vodafone' customers will enjoy the benefits of Vodafone’s extensive GPRS footprint, enabling them to seamlessly access their services whenever they travel abroad. 'Connected by Vodafone' roaming customers will experience the same Vodafone "look and feel" and will receive the same consistent levels of Vodafone service performance and security they experience on their home Vodafone networks.
In partnership with Vodafone, Fujitsu Siemens Computers will offer, market and sell Pocket LOOX PDAs, LIFEBOOK S and E series notebooks, and STYLISTIC ST4000 range of Tablet PCs in combination with Vodafone GPRS network connectivity. Fujitsu Siemens Computers will make available, the following GPRS enabled mobility products:
Pocket LOOX GPRS enabled PDAs will consist of a Pocket LOOX PDA and CONNECT2AIR GPRS Compact Flash Card, a Vodafone GPRS enabled SIM card, and GPRS Connectivity software, provisioned and activated on the relevant local Vodafone GPRS Network, ready use for the enterprise mobile worker, with after sales support.
LIFEBOOK GPRS enabled notebooks will consist of a LIFEBOOK (E or S Series) professional notebook, a Vodafone branded GPRS PC Card, Vodafone Dashboard connectivity software, a Vodafone GPRS enabled SIM card, provisioned and activated on the relevant local Vodafone GPRS Network, ready use for the enterprise mobile worker, with after sales support.
STYLISTIC GPRS enabled Tablet PCs will consist of a STYLISTIC ST4000 series Tablet PC, a Vodafone branded GPRS PC Card, Vodafone Dashboard connectivity software, a Vodafone GPRS enabled SIM card, provisioned and activated on the relevant local Vodafone GPRS Network, ready use for the enterprise mobile worker, with after sales support.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers “Connected by Vodafone” GPRS mobility offerings will begin with the German and UK markets, following shortly there after with Sweden, Italy, Ireland, Spain, and other key markets across EMEA. Availability will be in Q1 2003.
