Metrowerks’ CodeWarrior Wireless Studio 7 Receives Game Developer Magazine’s 2002 Front Line Award

1/14/2003 - Metrowerks CodeWarriorTM Wireless Studio 7 was announced as the winner of Game Developer magazine’s Front Line Award in the programming category for excellence and innovation in tools for game development during 2002.

The Front Line Awards recognize software and hardware companies whose tools enable faster and more efficient game creation. CodeWarrior Wireless Studio was released in March 2002 and is targeted at application development for JavaTM technology-enabled devices such as smart phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and set-top boxes.

Categories for finalists and winners include programming, art, audio, hardware, and game components. A distinguished panel of industry-leading professional game developers specializing in the fields relevant to each product category selected finalists and winners based on criteria such as utility, innovation, value and ease of use.

CodeWarrior Wireless Studio 7, Professional Edition, is designed to shorten the development cycle for Java application developers by allowing them to create, compile, and debug Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SETM), Java 2 Micro Edition (J2METM), and PersonalJavaTM applications within a single, tightly integrated development environment.

CodeWarrior Wireless Studio is part of an extensive portfolio of wireless application development tools from Metrowerks. In addition to comprehensive support for Java technology, Metrowerks’ wireless tools are the market leader for the Symbian OSTM and Palm OSTM platforms. Metrowerks also delivers core processor tools used for wireless device creation, base station infrastructure, and network equipment.

Last November, Metrowerks released CodeWarriorTM Wireless Studio 7, PDA Edition, which provides extensive support for building PersonalJava applications for a variety of handheld devices, including the Sharp Zaurus, Pocket PC handhelds such as the iPAQ family from Hewlett-Packard, or other PersonalJava devices such as the Sony Ericsson P800 Symbian phone.

Winners of the fifth annual Front Line Awards are profiled in the January 2003 issue of Game Developer magazine.
