XEMICS and RAISONANCE Announce Immediate Avaibility of XE8000 Development Tools

1/13/2003 - Raisonance and XEMICS announce immediate availability of the first complete, commercial-grade toolchain for XEMICS' XE8000 line of low-power radio and sensing machines. The XE8000 family of ultra low power, system-on-a-chip, offer unique features like the BitJockeyTM and the ZoomingADCTM.

The Rkit-XE is based around a port of the open-source GNU C Compiler. It includes Assembler, Linker, Standard Libraries, Simulator, In-Socket-Debugger and CodeCompressor, Raisonance's proprietary post-linker optimization technology, all seamlessly integrated into Raisonance Integrated Development Environment (RIDE). RIDE has become the standard IDE and Debugger interface for CoolRISC (XE8000 core) projects, being able to drive either the simulator, the development board (via a ROM Monitor) or 3rd party Emulators.

CodeCompressor is of particular benefit with the GNU compiler (that was not specifically designed to work with small microcontrollers), routinely achieving code savings of 30% (and up to 50% depending on the application). The libraries have been optimized to cope with the stringent memory requirements and Raisonance offers full support on all the tools, including bug fixes for the GNU compiler, as part of the license. SIMICE-XE, the simulator, provides accurate simulation of all XE8000 derivatives, core and the main peripherals.

RkitXE is available immediately from Raisonance in the Enterprise version. XEMICS distributes a special, limited version together with XE8000 evaluation boards. A free evaluation version including all tools (some limited to 1k instructions) is available at www.raisonance.com for download.
