1/13/2003 - Fujitsu Network Communications Inc. announced it has earned the ‘Verizon Testing Partner’ certification. This certification is granted to product testing teams that demonstrate an understanding and commitment to Verizon’s tough Systems Integration and Testing (SIT) expectations for initial product quality.
‘Verizon Testing Partner’ certification is only granted to product test teams that demonstrate they have the quality processes in place and the ability to deliver deployment-ready products to Verizon’s Systems Integration and Testing (SIT) laboratories. SIT’s labs perform a thorough product and system level review prior to decisions to deploy new equipment in Verizon’s telecommunications network.
“Our efforts to incorporate Verizon’s SIT requirements into our own internal qualification testing for lab entry of our next-generation FLASHWAVE 4000 ADM equipment have really paid off,” says George Chase, group president and chief operating officer of Fujitsu Network Communications. “We understand the Verizon requirements for both broad functionality and initial product quality. The FLASHWAVE 4000 products passed through Verizon’s lab process rapidly, with systems integration testing proceeding smoothly and uneventfully.”
The goal of the Verizon Testing Partner program is to accelerate the delivery of technology solutions to deployment status by Verizon and to reduce costs by eliminating redundant testing. Verizon minimizes system testing once the specific testing team is certified as a Testing Partner. Once a vendor’s equipment testing team is qualified and certified as a ‘Verizon Testing Partner,’ Verizon can accept the vendor’s test results as accurate, trusted and valid, meaning Verizon will not have to go to the expense of testing equipment again.
According to Verizon, the Testing Partner certification is granted to a specific product testing team. In this instance, Verizon is awarding three certifications: one each for the Fujitsu FLASHWAVE 4500 team, FLASHWAVE 4300 team and FLASHWAVE 4100 team.
“Verizon and its predecessor companies have been deploying Fujitsu optical transport solutions since 1983. We are delighted, not just to be certified as a Testing Partner, but to be the first company certified by Verizon,” says Chase. “We have focused our efforts on aligning our product testing with Verizon’s lab entry guidance. Fujitsu collaborated with Verizon to ensure that our next-generation FLASHWAVE 4000 ADM products fully met both Verizon’s operational and business needs. This collaboration is no small feat, and we are very proud of all the people who made this happen.”
