9/27/2002 - IONA®, the leading e-Business platform provider for Web Services Integration, announced that the company has been recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the "Best of The Web." This prestigious listing, which appears in the October 7, 2002 issue of Forbes ASAP, recognizes the most promising companies delivering Web technologies today. The "Best of the Web" issue also includes a profile of IONA's customer, AT&T, as a Web services success story-the only Web services case study to appear in the issue.
"Forbes' selection of IONA as one of the 'Best of the Web' and its profile of AT&T's use of IONA's Web Services Integration solutions clearly demonstrates IONA's leadership in this promising new market," said Barry Morris, CEO at IONA. "Other vendors are now using the 'buzzwords,' but IONA has already established a successful track record of helping our customers deploy Web services to improve the performance of their businesses. Starting with CORBA then with Java and now with Web services, IONA has been delivering standards-based, service-oriented integration technologies for more than 10 years."
The Forbes editorial staff selects "Best of the Web" companies, and the Web services "Best of the Web" winners are lauded in the issue as makers of "software that lets companies integrate and modernize their legacy systems by using Internet protocols, such as XML." In the Web services customer case study on AT&T, the publication states: "About one year ago AT&T asked Dublin-based IONA to fix its mess using Web Services. IONA has become a big player in Web Services."
