9/26/2002 - Lantronix announced that its Premise SYS Home Automation Software has been selected by LiteTouch to provide a complete software management tool for its lighting, dimming, and integrated control systems. Premise SYS provides LiteTouch customers with enhanced control and integration of their lighting and electronic systems, and integrates those systems within a larger home automation environment. For greater flexibility and ease of use, LiteTouch customers can securely access and control their lighting and electrical systems through Premise SYS using HTML browsers at home or via the Internet.
"This software agreement dramatically increases the homeowner's ability to control their lighting by providing access to their systems using a PC or other browser device from anywhere in the world," said Scott Straaten, director of sales and marketing at LiteTouch, Inc. "LiteTouch is now able to offer an exclusive Homeowner Interface that will significantly enhance the user's lifestyle through its standard Windows look-and-feel and ease of use."
LiteTouch is a sophisticated, hardwired lighting control system that is installed in place of standard toggle switches and dimmers. LiteTouch systems can control any light at the touch of a button as well as integrate with other automated systems such as security, HVAC, audio/video, and motorized windows, drapes and blinds.
"The key to long-term success within this market is how well companies collaborate to make integration of home systems easier for the customer," said Dan Quigley, executive vice president of Lantronix's Applications Division. "Premise SYS was specifically designed to help forward-looking companies such as LiteTouch integrate their own systems, network-enable those systems within a home automation environment, and manage everything from a central location."
Manufacturers are pursuing the rapidly growing networked-home market by introducing products that can take advantage of a networked home. Premise SYS technology is the middleware platform of choice by OEMs and is specifically engineered for consumer networked devices. Premise SYS is based on mainstream, standards-based hardware and networking technology, and provides a flexible, low-cost device networking platform for the home. "The software makes integrating home systems as easy as adding a printer or monitor to a PC," said Quigley.
