Austriamicrosystems Selects Cadence for Analog/Mixed-Signal Design Support

9/23/2002 - Cadence Design Systems, the world's leading provider of electronic design products and services, announced that austriamicrosystems, one of the world's leading designers and manufacturers in mixed-signal RF and HV microchips, has qualified Cadence analog/mixed-signal solutions as a reference flow.

austriamicrosystems will provide its customers with a complete Cadence portfolio of analog/mixed-signal design tools for use in all design flows, making Cadence its prime EDA vendor.

The complete analog/mixed-signal and digital design tool solution includes Cadence® Spectre® simulator, NC-Verilog® digital simulator, Virtuoso® XL layout editor, BuildGates® synthesis product with sign-off static timing analysis and full RTL to GDSII flow with SE-PKS. For physical verification and extraction austriamicrosystems leverages the advanced hierarchical capabilities of the Cadence Assura(TM)tool suite. The next generation process design kit (PDK) from austriamicrosystems' will be called HIT-Kit (High Performance Interface Tool-Kit).

austriamicrosystems has integrated Cadence design tools as a reference flow in analog/mixed signal and the digital area into the HIT-Kit. The combination of tools and HIT-Kit will help ensure optimum productivity for customers using the Cadence/austriamicrosystems environment.

"Our cooperation with Cadence as our prime EDA vendor means that our customers now have access to one of the industry's most comprehensive design tools, methodologies and manufacturing for complex analog and mixed-signal designs," said Rainer Holzhaider, Director Foundry Services, austriamicrosystems. "This level of support provides designers with a proven route to silicon as the basis for first-time success, even for advanced circuit development."

"Companies working on complex analog and mixed-signal designs can achieve improved efficiency and faster time-to-market by having access to a tightly integrated design toolkits and a fully integrated critical path all the way to the foundry," said Guillaume d'Eyssautier. "With support from Cadence, austriamicrosystems is delivering on these aspirations by offering the most integrated design toolkit, methodologies and production capabilities on the market."
