American Arium Releases SourcePoint 5.1
9/23/2002 - American Arium, an industry leader in software debug and integration tool development, announced production release of SourcePointTM 5.1, its latest debug solution for Intel processors. The software is designed to work with Intel’s 32- and 64-bit architecture, including the newly released Intel® Itanium® 2 processors, designed for enterprise-class computing, and the Intel Pentium® and XeonTM processors. The software is also designed to support other IA-32 and IA-64 Intel processors expected to be announced by the end of the year.
"Much of the work that went into SourcePoint 5.1 was done to support Intel’s latest processors and those coming soon, and is transparent to the end user," said Steve Blair, vice president of Engineering. "We also used this opportunity to add and modify several features to improve the debug experience."
Key among those improvements are:
- A new Devices Window view. This window lets the end user define views of memory-mapped I/O devices, related registers and memory areas. The feature eliminates the need to open multiple windows to track devices and can dramatically increase the available screen space.
- An updated macros command gives programmers six predefined macros and lets them define up to 10 more. In addition, the software now allows them to initiate a user-defined macro after a run to a particular breakpoint.
- The status numbers displayed in the LED on American Arium emulators are now also displayed in the status bar of the software. This helps those working with remote emulator connections.
- Determining the EFI address when the end user is connected to a target with an IA-64 processor is now easy, thanks to a new auto-detect feature.
- Users can now load all symbols for ELF files or just those that have been detected via a new option called Smart Symbol Analysis. Users can choose to load the full set or save time by loading only those symbols that have already been used.
SourcePoint 5.1 offers outstanding run control and exceptional visibility to code via a series of intuitive screens and dialogs with numerous viewing options. SourcePoint 5.1 works in real time with all processors and core frequencies; it works with today’s most popular compiler toolchains and supports industry standard input file formats, and includes a robust command language.
SourcePoint 5.1 currently ships with all American Arium emulators designed to support platforms incorporating Intel processors, and is available now to current users under STAR-1 warranty support.
