9/19/2002 - Fujitsu Services, one of Europe's leading providers of IT infrastructure management services, has been chosen as a finalist in the inaugural National Business Awards 2002, sponsored by Orange, which recognise and reward excellence, best practice and innovation across the UK business community. The awards are supported by a range of organisations such as Investors in People, The Work Foundation and the Institute of Customer Service.
Fujitsu is a finalist in the Customer Focus Award category, sponsored by Siemens, with just four other organisations, for its call centre Sense and RespondTM model that puts the customer at the heart of its business, radically changing the role of call centre agents.
Almost 1,900 nominations were received for the National Business Awards 2002 and twenty-three business sectors are represented by the finalists. Fujitsu is the only IT company that is a finalist in the Customer Focus Award.
The panel of judges for the National Business Awards 2002 has been drawn from some of the UK's most innovative and successful organisations, including the Institute of Directors, Reuters, Kingfisher and the CBI. The panel is chaired by the management consultant and chairman of the Osprey Partnership, Philip Forrest, who comments: "The entries we have received show that British business is highly organised and also very customer focused. The customer is very important."
Steve Parry, head of strategic change and development, call centres, responsible for Fujitsu Services' Sense and RespondTM model commented, "Our Sense and RespondTM model has resulted in a dramatic increase in customer satisfaction among Fujitsu Services customers over the past three years. Call centre agents no longer just deal with calls, but work to solve the callers' query, when in most call centres, this is passed to another department. We have had excellent feedback on our call centre model from our customers, and so I am extremely pleased that the judges' opinions reflect this. We are proud to be a finalist in these prestigious awards, reflecting the hard work from all of our call centre staff over the last three years."
The National Business Awards 2002 winners will be announced on Tuesday, October 29th at an awards ceremony that will be filmed by Sky News.
