9/18/2002 - Lantronix announced that its Premise SYS Automation Software version 1.5 with mSenseTM technology was selected as product of the year by Electronic House Publishing, a leading home technology media organization. Before being acquired by Lantronix earlier this year, Premise SystemsTM won the award for the first version of its SYS product in 2001. With this honor, Premise SYS becomes the first product to receive the award two years in a row.
Premise SYS is designed to intelligently manage and control the thousands of devices and services that can exist in networked homes and buildings. MSense technology, a new feature of version 1.5, automatically switches consumer electronic components based on the type of media selected by the user. MSense simplifies sophisticated A/V and theater control, making it easy to integrate virtually any device or media content into a unified system.
"It was particularly difficult to choose our favorites this year given that we received hundreds of entries, and all the judges had their opinions as to why each product was deserving of an award," said Cindy Davis, publisher of Electronic House magazine. "In the end, the decision was unanimous, and Premise SYS made it into the final round. With this award, we would like to honor Lantronix and its contribution to the connected home industry as well as to the consumer audience."
"Customers are very enthusiastic about the Premise SYS product because it is engineered from the ground up to make use of industry standards and leverage industry economies of scale. MSense makes it easy to achieve a fully integrated consumer experience using products from a wide range of manufacturers," said Dan Quigley, executive vice president of Lantronix' Applications business unit. "We are extremely pleased with the market reception and recognition of Premise SYS through industry associations and honors such as the Electronic House Product of the Year Award."
The 2002 Electronic House Product of the Year Awards are judged for innovation, technology, ease of use, and overall value for the end consumer by a panel of Electronic House Publishing editors. The awards recognize the finest achievements in whole-house systems as well as individual components, technologies or services for use in the connected home, including home control, lighting control, structured wire, home theater, TVs, video components, audio components, speakers, audio distribution, video distribution, security, home theater accessories, intercoms, networking, internet, home phone systems, home automation technology, and more.
