Avnet Applied Computing Launches No-Touch Solutions Program for Product Developers

9/18/2002 - Avnet Applied Computing announced the launch of its No-Touch SolutionsTM program for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), systems builders and independent software vendors (ISVs).

Avnet No-Touch Solutions offers true, initial-concept-to-delivery product development capabilities, including product design assistance, engineering, integration, order management, inventory logistics and support services, with a single point of contact.

This new Avnet FasTrac Services Web portal program enables product developers to focus on their core intellectual property and sales efforts while Avnet addresses the time-to-market, technology, engineering and customer delivery components of the product lifecycle.

"In the highly competitive technology market, companies need to leverage the strengths of their strategic partners in order to deliver high quality, innovative solutions to market quickly and efficiently," said Troy Blanchette, senior vice president of Avnet FasTrac Services.

"Avnet Applied Computing has the business infrastructure, service provider network and integration expertise required to deliver end-to-end services that support every phase of the product lifecycle. Avnet's No-Touch Solutions enables our customers to cost-effectively outsource part or all of their production process without sacrificing quality or service.

"No-Touch Solutions also allows our customers to reallocate critical resources and capital to core business development activities."

Avnet No-Touch Solutions delivers a flexible combination of professional consulting, products and services including:

  • Concept — Avnet Applied Computing will help with conceptual product design and development, including mechanical design, certification, testing and design assistance.
  • Design — Avnet Applied Computing Labs and Technology Showrooms are available to help with product design needs. Customer engineering teams can work hand in hand with Avnet to develop the product or solution.
  • Engineering — Avnet Applied Computing engineering resources include in-depth collaboration with Avnet's Applied Computing Labs to build prototypes, test and validate product design and performance. Avnet also offers tested reference designs and semi-custom, pre-configured computing systems via its Avnet FastBuildTM program to enable faster product development.
  • Integration — Equipped with state-of-the-art tools, advanced integration processes and technical expertise, Avnet's ISO 9001-2000 certified facilities ensure quality product integration and customer satisfaction. Avnet Applied Computing creates a customer-specific, revision-controlled statement of work — the Avnet Manufacturing Spec (AMS) — that includes all required services. The AMS serves as the communication vehicle between Avnet Applied Computing and the customer to ensure the outsourcing process is managed to complete customer specifications.
  • Order Management — Avnet's E-Services team has substantial expertise in developing highly customized, effective Web-based applications including Avnet FasTracTM, a Web portal designed to help customers reduce cost, increase efficiency and eliminate redundancy. Avnet FasTrac provides 24-hour access to business transactions including bill-of-materials, purchasing, order status, order history, tracking, and shipments. Under a No-Touch Solutions arrangement, Avnet Applied Computing can provide customers with an e-business Web storefront that enables them to leverage Avnet's IT capabilities and logistics expertise.
  • Inventory — Avnet Applied Computing offers an extensive product line card, off-the-shelf stock and extended product life-cycle management.
  • Logistics — Avnet Applied Computing's relationships with its customers are seamless and transparent. With Avnet No-Touch Solutions, Avnet Applied Computing prepares the necessary documentation to deliver its customers' solutions directly to their customers — the end customers — reducing time and cost.
  • Support — Avnet Applied Computing has the support infrastructure and alliances to provide customers with business solutions that include onsite and extended warranty programs, components, and financial services.
