Industry’s First Semiconductor Memory Conference Hits Silicon Valley in October

9/18/2002 - Denali Software, the leader in memory system design and verification, announced Denali MemCon San Jose will be held October 8th and 9th in the Grand Ballrooms of the Westin Santa Clara Hotel in Santa Clara, Calif. Denali MemCon San Jose is the third of three MemCon events that Denali has produced this year. MemCon Boston was 50 percent over subscribed. MemCon Tokyo occurring September 29 is already sold out and registered attendance is nearing the maximum capacity of the venue: the Tokyo Conference Center. MemCon San Jose will be a two-day event and expected to draw the largest crowd of all three events.

On Tuesday October 8th, Conference Track 1 will be focused on memory architectures and design considerations for high-speed communications equipment. Track 2 on Wednesday October 9th Conference will cover low power and consumer applications. During the tracks, each of the 18 participating memory vendors and system developers will deliver a 30-minute presentation with an additional five minutes allotted for Q&A. The presentations will provide attendees with a crash course on new developments in these leading-edge technologies. The symposium will also feature a panel session on both days during the sponsored luncheon. A wine reception at the end of the first day will provide attendees the opportunity to meet with the participating companies. The conference begins on Tuesday October 8th with a keynote talk by Chris Hamlin, VP and CTO of LSI Logic Inc. of San Jose, Calif. Show sponsors for the event include Artisan, Avnet, Infineon, LSI Logic, Micron, the QDR Consortium, Samsung, and Toshiba.

The conference is targeted at ASIC designers building complex system-on-chip ICs who need unique memories to extract the maximum performance for their designs. In recent times, the performance of on-chip processors has far outdistance the performance of external memory components supply data to and receiving results from these processors. Semiconductor memory vendors have scrambled to break this bottleneck, but each solution comes with its own unique design considerations. At Denali MemCon San Jose ASIC designers will receive a crash course on all these new memory architectures in one place and in the compressed time frame of two days.
