9/17/2002 - Agilent Technologies introduced the Agilent OCT-4150 E2143A optical chip test system, a fully integrated test system designed for more efficient testing of planar lightwave circuits or photonic integrated circuits. The solution's high-speed parallel alignment and measurement capabilities increase device throughput and improve manufacturers' yield by finding defects sooner.
The OCT-4150 increases bottom-line profitability by ensuring that only good devices are pigtailed and packaged. Alignment and test sequences can be easily changed using Agilent's common software architecture integrated with an industry-standard test executive, allowing manufacturers to remain cost competitive while responding quickly to changing technological and market demands.
"The Agilent OCT-4150 Optical Chip Test System allows optical component manufacturers to be cost competitive in the metro market by reducing cost of test of metro optical passive components," said Dave Myers, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Solutions Generation and Delivery Unit. "The OCT-4150 is based on the Agilent common software architecture, resulting in a cost-effective system that satisfies individual customer requirements."
The Agilent OCT-4150 E2143A optical chip test system offers several benefits, including:
Agilent also offers a pigtailed passive component test system and optical amplifier test system that complement the OCT-4150 to help manufacturers meet all of their functional test needs.
Agilent will provide video demonstrations of the new test system at the National Fiber Optical Engineers Conference (NFOEC) in Dallas, Sept. 15 to 19, as part of the Agilent truck roadshow 2002, "Next Generation Network Technology -- Test Solutions for Metro and 40 G." This tour is designed to help network equipment and component manufacturers meet the current network challenges of metro networks and keep pace with the ongoing technological advances in the fiber optics industry.
U.S. Pricing and Availability
The Agilent OCT-4150 E2143A optical chip test system is available now. Although final system pricing depends upon individual customer configuration requirements, the base price is $325,000 for a one-channel 4x1x4 system.
