Texas Memory Systems Announces Certification of Emulex Host Bus Adapters

9/16/2002 - Texas Memory Systems announced certification of Emulex Fibre Channel host bus adapters for use with the RamSan-210 solid state disk. Emulex Corporation is the leading supplier of Fibre Channel HBAs worldwide, and approximately 80 percent of the world's leading suppliers of servers and storage systems utilize Emulex HBAs for Fibre Channel connectivity.

The Emulex family of Fibre Channel HBAs, including the recently qualified LP9002L LP9002DC, LP952L and the market-leading LP8000, offers firmware upgrade-ability and a unique driver architecture that enables compatibility of a single operating system driver across Emulex's entire product line, which significantly reduces SAN management complexity while lowering the customer's total cost of ownership. In addition, Emulex HBAs are fully compatible with legacy 1Gb/s SANs, and feature automatic speed negotiation.

"TMS is committed to providing solutions that have been pre-tested, ensuring our customers a smooth installation," says TMS Vice President of Technology Paul Kaler. "Our customers and our business rely on dependable products and interoperability with the industry’s leading Fibre Channel hardware. Our interoperability certification with Emulex gives our mutual clients robust solutions."

The RamSan, the World’s Fastest Storageâ, uses SDRAM as the primary storage media instead of tapes or magnetic platters. The result is a blazingly fast disk subsystem capable of accelerating database performance and eliminating I/O bottlenecks. It is the only solid state disk to be both Solaris Ready and Designed for Windows 2000 Advanced Server. It is certified as interoperable with a wide range of Fibre Channel and SAN products.

"Certification of Emulex HBAs ensures reliable and robust connectivity for storage networking," said Mike Smith, executive vice president of Worldwide Marketing at Emulex. "We are pleased TMS has qualified our family of high performance host bus adapters for use with its storage media."
