9/12/2002 - Xilinx announced a collaboration with AcceLight Networks, a leading aggregation switching and cross connect company, in the delivery of AcceLight's PXS 540 family of Photonic Service Switches (PSS). AcceLight's unique architecture, enabled by Xilinx's high-density, high-speed Virtex-II Platform FPGAs, delivers an integrated system for SONET/SDH STS-1 grooming, optical path and MPLS label switching from 80G to 1.28 terabits in capacity. Today's service providers can benefit from the agile service configurations of the PXS 540 to deliver inter-city TDM, optical, and MPLS switched services for the wavelength core.
AcceLight Networks is among a growing number of companies using Xilinx's leading-edge FPGAs to gain a competitive advantage. AcceLight selected Xilinxâ Platform FPGAs over competitive devices based upon the unprecedented logic, memory, and I/O capacity of the Virtex-II line.
